Thailand Weather by Region: When to Visit Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Koh Samui

Thailand weather is regional. A month that works well for one beach area may be less ideal for another.

The Simple Version

November through February is generally the easiest season for many Thailand routes. March and April can be very hot. Rainy season varies by region and can still work with flexible planning.

Phuket and Krabi

The Andaman side is usually strongest from November to April. May through October can bring rougher seas, though prices may be better and some days are still beautiful.

Koh Samui Side

Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao often work better than Phuket during parts of the northern hemisphere summer, though weather is never guaranteed.

Who This Is Best For

  • Travelers from the US or Europe visiting Thailand for the first time
  • Couples, families, and small private groups who want smoother logistics
  • Travelers who care about comfort, timing, local context, and flexible support

Planning Tip From a Local Thai Team

Do not build your Thailand trip only around famous places. Build it around travel energy: arrival recovery, heat, traffic, boat conditions, hotel location, and the kind of food and culture your group actually enjoys.
